As the mighty Mississippi was preparing to flood
And wash away the sins of five hundred years of pain

I sit in my basement protecting my kin
This war will be over before it begins
I'm not falling victim to somebody's foolish game

I've rationed my water for three grueling weeks
And the canned food I stockpiled was taken by thieves
Survival's a battle we just can't afford to lose

And I can't help but wonder what caused this decline
As we stand there for hours in grocery lines
Just planning ahead for the next fight we just can't afford to lose
